There's a mirror in the sky this morning, reflecting the blue and pink in the garden in a mass of billowy cloud. Luscious!

Today while making this nest, I was visited at the

Today while making this nest, I was visited at the studio by Whistling Dick, our resident Grey Shrikethrush, and her dear little baby testing his new wings (you can see the videos in stories). They sat on the studio doorstep and sang - I felt like a proud parent, feathers puffed, lump in my throat.
It is beyond wonderful when these creatures raise their families in our garden. What a privilege, and a thrill to think they've chosen what we have grown as their home.
This is REALLY what it's all about. A swanky garden may attract the attention of a design magazine, but unless it makes the cut with the critters with whom we share the land, is it really hitting the mark?
As landholders we are custodians, none of us are owners, not really. Instead of pressing our thumbprint firmly onto our plots, we need to handle them gently. Care, not conquer, all the while asking the question, who are we really trying to impress? It's far more rewarding keeping up with with Whistling Dick and family than keeping up with the Joneses.

Littlie works, a special release just in time for Christmas!!!
In mid November I will be releasing three little artworks for sale, exclusively available to subscribers to The Garden Curator Letter, beautifully wrapped and ready to be shipped off to you just in time to pop under the Christmas tree! Can you spot it, the Friar bird mid flight on its way to feed from the Melianthus flowers early this morning? You can see him spread his wings in the video in my stories, in the most beautiful morning light.
